Women’s bodies varied widely, yet the industry relied on rigid grading formulas and limited size offerings. Extended sizing was rare, and when available, it often excluded the most on-trend silhouettes due to outdated assumptions about what plus-size women would want to wear.

Determined to change that narrative, she bootstrapped the business from her garage and sold product from the trunk of her family car. From the beginning, Judy Blue committed to fitting on multiple body types rather than simply scaling patterns up or down. Plus sizes were developed with the same precision and intention as straight sizes, creating a new standard in the boutique denim space.

As competition increased in the early 2000s, the brand doubled down on quality and innovation instead of cutting corners to compete on price.
